Forsythe to Sen. Sgambati: Repeal the Job Killing LLC Income Tax

Laconia, NH – Republican State Senate District 4 candidate Jim Forsythe has strongly urged that incumbent Democrat State Senator Kathy Sgambati lead the charge in the repeal of the LLC income tax during next week’s special session.

“We need to have a simple up-and-down vote on the repeal of the LLC tax rather than couple the issue in with the budgeting process. It is time that Senator Sgambati votes to repeal this job-killing income tax on small businesses. Every day that goes by with this issue up in the air is a day where new jobs are lost to neighboring states.” said Forsythe.

For months, the Governor and the Democratic majorities in the legislature have agreed that the LLC tax should be repealed. Yet the tax is still alive and well, and it has come at the expense of small businesses and employees. Sen. Sgambati voted against the bill sponsored by Senator Bradley that would have repealed the LLC tax.

Furthermore, the Democrats can’t seem to reach a consensus on how to reduce the over $300 million budget gap. Last week, Senator Sgambati and the Democrats walked away from negotiations that would have cut spending and reduced the deficit. Sgambati’s belief in our state having a revenue problem rather than a spending problem has once again surfaced with her lack of regard for closing this budget gap using spending cuts.

“Our state’s budget is in a perilous condition, and we cannot afford to have our Senator walk away from the negotiating table. The budget must be balanced without resorting to additional borrowing, downshifting of costs to local taxpayers, or increased taxes,” concluded Forsythe.
