FORSYTHE FILES FOR STATE SENATE SEAT WITH FAMILY BY HIS SIDE
Candidate said the prospect for his own children’s future inspired his candidacy
LACONIA, N.H.—With his family by his side for support and inspiration, conservative Republican Jim Forsythe filed his candidacy for New Hampshire’s fourth-district State Senate seat today at the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s office in Concord.
“It’s true that many candidates file for office with their family and friends by their side, but to me, having my wife and children with me reflects the deep-rooted concern I have about my family’s future,” Forsythe said. “If the current state Legislature’s excessive borrow-and-spend behavior continues much longer, my children would have to work harder than me to be able to afford an equally prosperous life. When I first realized this, I immediately knew I had to run for this office so I could directly influence policies that would improve their future.”
When Forsythe filed for office today, he submitted a petition with more than 100 signatures from supporters around State Senate District 4, while his wife Sue of 20 years, his daughter Kate (14) and his son Connor (12) looked on. The candidate said his family, friends and supporters have been “an inspiration” as he seeks the authority “to help restore the New Hampshire Advantage” through a seat in the State Senate.
“The next Legislature has to focus on spending cuts so it can start paying down the debt built up in the last six years and cut taxes and fees that have crippled families and businesses and stifled the growth of private-sector jobs,” Forsythe said. “I’m committed to making the needed spending cuts to ensure prosperity for not only my children, but also for the entire state. I’m also committed to changes that will restore parents’ control over their children’s education and free-market reforms to lower the cost of health care.”
