“I think people are looking for new energy and new ideas in Concord,” Forsythe said.

Forrester agreed.

“We’re outsiders bringing in a fresh perspective,” she said. “I think that’s what people want right now. What I hear out there is a lot of anger and disenchantment.”

Hurt carried Gilford, where he resides, by 618 to 455 and Laconia by the narrower margin of 868 to 811, but could not overcome the commanding victories Forsythe scored in Alton (497 to 215), Barnstead (333 to 53), Gilmanton (286 to 151) and New Durham (120 to 37).

With returns from seven of nine communities in the district reporting Forsythe was leading with 2,881 votes, to 2,167 votes for Hurt and 758 votes for Bickford.

We have been impressed with Jim Forsythe’s ability to cut through the fog of political rhetoric and explain in detail why he takes the positions he does, which are invariably in favor of limiting government, restraining spending, reducing regulations and improving the tax structure.
